This year's Field Day was held at Schuster's Playtime Farm in Deerfield, WI, just a stone's throw from Madison on a beautiful fall day for drive to the country. Beth Anne Heyrman, chair, Ron Loos, grounds manager, and Annie Randall, artisans manager, put together a very diverse presentation that included artisans in the round barn, draft teams plowing and disking, handsome costumes and authentic
equipment from days gone by.

Participants who brought horses included Dean (and Vicki) Larson with Willo Pond Knight Rebel, Kathy Yurkonis demon-strating the lady-like art of riding sidesaddle on BPM Mark of the Comet and husband Peter Yurkonis riding Feather Ridge B-Hawk in authentic Civil War cavalry gear. Daughter, Anya, split
her in-saddle time between her Dad's horse and Annie Randall's Devilwood Gryphon.

Donna Crossman and Sami demonstrated ground driving. Sarah Ackermann looked charming on her big, bay gelding, CMA TaxxReturn (Lance). who excelled in the trotting race. Dr. Darcy Overturf, DVM and
Leila Erdmann brought Ken-Dar Easy Eye for his last raffle appearance. Mary Ellen Gray, aided by Marsha Valance, brought Gable's Grindelwald (Beauty) and her 5 month old filly, Gable's Jazz in the Park. Jazz enjoyed the attention while Beauty snacked in the field full of "real" grass. Ron and Jean Luebke brought two teams of percherons - one black and one sorrel. Greg Wiepz brought a team of Belgians who worked at disking the very dry, hard field.

Club members Jerry Coffey, Tony Brickl and Marsha Valance came to lend a hand while Darcy Overturf and Linda Jung handled the raffle ticket sales. Many Morgan owners and friends stopped by to chat. The round barn featured popular Wisconsin author, Jerry Apps, and woodcarver/sculptor, Homer exhibited his skills. Our own Carol Pasbrig gave everyone a show of her weaving techniques. Craig Roost demonstrated the old craft of timber pegging outside and David Ogren displayed his fine, hand-crafted furniture. Thanks to all for an interesting, educational reminder of days long ago!
