Morgans Celebrate 25th Anniversary of the Midwest Horse Fair
The
month of April brings many things to the Midwest, mainly green grass
and unpredictable weather, but to horse people it means one thing,
the Midwest Horse Fair. This year over 50,000 people flocked to
the Alliant Energy Center in Madison over the 16th, 17th, and 18th
of April for the more than 700 vendors, 30 clinicians, and 30 breeds
and disciplines. All of this is organized and run by the Wisconsin
State Horse Council, with the WMHC’s very own Nap Bourdeau
as the 2004 Midwest Horse Fair Chair and Annie Randall organizing
Stallion Avenue.
Going
along with this year’s theme “The Silver Year of the
Horse Fair”, the Morgan stalls and hospitality booth were
decked out in silver stars, and featured pictures of club member’s
Morgans. The
10-minute breed demonstration on Saturday and Sunday highlighted
the breed’s versatility with 10 different Morgans showing
10 different ways to use your Morgan. Travis Filipek brought W’s
Ready to Rumble, a National Champion Freestyle Reiner. Sarah Waggoner
on the extremely versatile Kretzschmar Tonto showing Western Pleasure. Jim
and Deb Metz drove their pair JMF Cimmerianna and JMF Crosswind
hooked to an 1850 era Buckboard vehicle. Michelle Wich presented
Hylee’s Black Tie Affair, a flashy Park horse, for owners
Karen Langebecker and Larry Lange. Danielle Wich rode Cingate Nick
of Time, a mannerly Classic English Pleasure horse. Maggie
Janzen on Surgarlane Jamestown, a stylish English Pleasure horse.
Danielle Lemke showed her sporty hunter EZ Boy. Connie White presented
Bethesda’s Carbon Copy, a 3rd Level Dressage horse, for owner
Gordon Weyrauch. And Debbie Fairbanks showed off her yearling stud
colt Minglewood Soldier’s Joy, as a Justin Morgan look a like. |
